fueled_with_passionThe 21st annual Arthur Furst Undergraduate Scholarship was awarded to Aisling Sinclair! Aisling is a senior at the University of San Francisco and was recommended for this award by Assistant Professor James Sikes for her “unwavering commitment to research and her desire to pursue a career in molecular biology research.” The NeoLife recognition luncheon was attended by SAB members Anjana Srivastava and John Miller, the Furst
family members and Assistant Professor James Sikes.

Aisling is honored to have won the award as she admires that Dr. Furst was a “pioneer in his field and had numerous discoveries in cancer research, he never patented anything. He instead published and spread the knowledge he acquired.”

Ever since she can remember, Aisling has always been interested in a career in biology. “Of course it wasn’t always molecular biology, my kindergarden dream career was to be a marine biologist so that I could study my favorite animal at the time, dolphins.” As she’s taken more biology classes, the molecular concepts have grabbed her attention more. Aisling explains that “there is just so much left to piece together and explore in the molecular bio world that we can now figure out because of new technology, I just want a piece of the excitement for myself.”

Unsure about where the future will take her, Aisling has big plans to continue doing research. She would “love to get a Ph.D. and run a lab at a biotech company.”
